I’ll be trying a new format to keep the newest information here in blog form on the front page.

With a complete jig, the frames (which are templates) were ready to be cut out, trimmed, cleaned and prepped for dry-fitting and readied to be used with a router (which I don’t own yet) to cut out the nice mahogany plywood she’ll be built out of. Lots of work on the front end to make the later work much easier and quicker, thus better to create a racing class and club out of here in Spokane.

All of the frames and one transom are laid out on the jig:

These boats are achingly simple, and I absolutely agree with the Cocktail Class people that once the jigs are done, a hull could be turned out by two people in a weekend, ready to be flipped over and finished out.

One piece I really dig, check out the tumblehome on these little buggers!

On shift tomorrow, so no update, but over the weekend I’d either like to get the jig finished up, or get the plywood for the boat, or both if I’m lucky. All depends on weather.

The Oxford Rowing Shell from CLC boats was a necessary addition to our household. My lovely wife loves rowing, and when you have a boatbuilder in the house, of course you will have a hand built boat. With the help of designer John Harris, her scantlings were reduced to make the boat easier to carry from the house to the water. Follow the link below to the article about the boat at Duckworks.
